What It Means To “Poke The Box”

Often, we get sucked into the trap of what is comfortable, and too little do we start something new that we know we have the capability and drive to start.

For us a BookishBrooks.com, it’s this blog. This is our first blog post, and we are excited. We understand that we will make mistakes, fumble, mess up - however you want to put it, we are expecting failure.

The point of doing something new and embracing the potential of failure is getting in the habit of doing something new. Getting better at that new task takes failure, iteration, and more failure, and more iteration… obsessive iteration to be exact.

In Seth Godin in his book “Poke The Box”, highlights the paralyzing fear some of us get when even thinking of starting something new. It’s normal.
